Pantos Logistics opens its No.2 logistics center in Indonesia
- The two logistics centers (combined size: 70,000㎡) near Jakarta will put the company in a more advantageous position for handling the local market
Pantos Logistics, which is the largest logistics business in Korea, opened its second logistics center in Indonesia in an effort to bolster its local W&D (Warehouse & Distribution) operation.
On May 23, Pantos Logistics announced that it commenced the operation of its newly built second logistics center for Pantos Logistics Indonesia in Cikarang, which is near Jakarta.
It took six months to build the 11,500㎡-sized logistics center on a 20,000㎡-sized parcel of land. When the second logistics center is combined with the first logistics center, which was built in 2005 and that has been operating within the Cibitung Industrial Complex, its total size will become 70,000m2. In this way, Pantos Logistics has secured the largest logistics center from among the Korean logistics companies that have penetrated Indonesia.
It is expected that the second logistics center will serve as the company's operational hub for inland transportation throughout Indonesia, thereby fully utilizing its convenient location that is close to downtown Jakarta, the airport, and the port. On the occasion of opening the second logistics center, Pantos Logistics will step up its efforts for brisker business in warehousing and inland transportation through proactive marketing that is geared towards business in the industrial complex and global businesses in Indonesia.
Indonesia enjoys the largest economy in Southeast Asia. The share of domestic consumption in the country's GDP comes to more than 60%. Thus, the demand for domestic logistics operation is ever on the increase. In this regard, Pantos Logistics is striving to expand its operational infrastructure, including through its logistics centers and its own fleet of cargo trucks, and the network of inland transportation throughout the country. Earlier this year, Pantos Logistics signed a logistics service contract with Coca Cola for the warehousing of Coca Cola's goods at its logistics center and distribution to wholesalers throughout the country. The company also provides logistics service to Korean business in Indonesia, including POSCO and Hankook Tire, and a large number of global and local businesses.
Commenting on the ongoing status of the company's operation, a Pantos Logistics official said, "We are making efforts to secure unique competitiveness through One-stop global comprehensive logistics service to meet the specific requirements of customer businesses. We are building our capability in W&D operation in major areas outside of Korea, in addition to our existing international logistics service, as a part of these efforts."
